Remember back on October 30, 2009 when we recycled and boxed 50 G3 iMacs ?

..... for a Brother's Brother Foundation shipment to Nyadire Africa ( just north of the capital of Harare --- see image ) via a 45 boat container mixed in with medical relief supplies for the Nyadire Mission Hospital on the Methodist mission ..... we have received confirmation the container is now on their mission site! Our USA team ( Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Wash DC) will travel to Zimbabwe for a April 16 - May 4, 2010 mission to get projects completed as described below in the newsletter snippet.
43 of 50 recycled Apple iMac G3 computers from Bob Donaldson's Goodwill operations will replace existing broken-down donated PC Windows computers on the 4500 acre Nyadire Mission in Zimbabwe, Africa. ( note: we are very, very sad to see these Windoze PC's be drop-kicked into the recycling trash for parts only .... very sad. :-)
7 of the iMacs will go to another mission site near Nyadire ... and the deployment of the 43 on the mission will be as follows:
Internet Café (5 or 6)
Primary School (10 computers)
Secondary (High) School (10 computers)
Teaching College (10 computers - library)
One each for Maint., Station Chair, HOH, Community Library, DS Razo

April VIM Trip to Nyadire
Excitement is mounting as the April VIM Trip to Nyadire starts to take shape. Sara Dickey, who is making her 8th trip to Zimbabwe will be the leader of the spring trip taking place from April 15 to May 4, 2010. Join a trip to Zimbabwe. The next trips are July 15 - August 1, 2010, July 29 - August 15, 2010 and September 23 - October 15, 2010.
There are specific goals set for the team’s work in April. The container sent in November by The Nyadire Connection (TNC) and Brother’s Brother has arrived in Nyadire, and its contents have been emptied into the storage room. The storage room was designed by Dr. Tshiani and TNC provided the necessary funds to complete it. Among the team’s primary tasks are to:
Unload and distribute the contents to the various groups and departments on the Mission. The team will also develop a process/procedure for the distribution for future containers. Set up the 43 Apple computers throughout the mission and provide technical support for those who will use them. Five of the computers will installed in the Internet Café at the Nyadire Hospital for persons on the mission to use. Dave Sevick, Apple consultant and member of Calvary UMC, who worked as a volunteer reconditioning these computers at Goodwill Industries, will be in charge of this project. Work on the Community Library. Some 4000 books, donated by Half Price Books, will need to be processed and shelved. Visit with the pastors of the Mutoko-Mudzi District and give them letters from their partners in the WPA Conference.
Of course, time will be spent with the friends on the mission and the children of the Home of Hope and letters will be exchanged.
Three of the members of the VIM trip are making return visits – Sara Dickey, Janet Elders and Sue Bower all of Christ UMC. They will be joined by Dave Sevick of Calvary UMC, Rev. Kelly Smith, Trinity Towers UMC, Sandy McKnight of St. Paul’s UMC, Aaron Cannon of NC, Jim Gourley and Sue McCann of the Baltimore/ Washington Conference who are going over on another trip but will hook up with the WPA Vim Trip.
