Reminiscing about MacOutfitters - November 1999 we took over the "$1 Dry Cleaner" space on 20636 Route 19 North Perry Highway. On Dec 4, 1999 we had the Grand Opening of MacOutfitters. http://gallery.me.com/davesevick/100258
Owner Jim Habel will move the store to:
Anticipated Opening Day: Monday, March 29, 2010
20395 Route 19, Cranberry Twp. PA (in Landmark North next to AAA)

Closeouts - There are only three 24" iMacs remaining ( one $2400 now selling for $899 until supplies last ) and a box of free software as the store packs for the move 724-776-8075 x4 for sales
Roger Ebert - Bob Donaldson spoke about his blogging experience with Roger Ebert of the famous "Siskel & Ebert" movie critic team. Now recovering from cancer, Roger Ebert is able to use his MacBook Pro and the voice of Alex to speak to others with text-to-speech technology and now can even use his own voice from prior recordings of his voice: Ebert 2002 Ebert 2010
iWork.com workflow - We are using this collaborative web tool to build newsletters called the MAK ( Mac Acts of Kindness ) with our at team MacMissionaries.
Feb 2010 in Nicaragua, MacMissionaries served:
- Men’s and women’s prisons will be getting Macs
- Nursery schools will be getting Macs
- Coffee plantations will be getting Macs
- Rural and Urban school districts will be getting Macs
- Rescue missions will be getting Macs.
April 2010 in Nyadire, Zimbabwe, Africa ... MacMissionaries will configure 50 iMac G3s from Goodwill:
- 7 Macs in the new “internet cafe” next to the nursing college
- 10 Macs in the primary school
- 10 Macs in the high school
- 10 Macs in the library of the nursing college
- 5 Macs to church mission staff
We are growing a wide base of mission volunteers and mission supporters ... please contact Dave for more information ..... mailto:dave at davesevick.com
TheSleepingBagProject.org - We are working on a project to recycle blue wraps from local hospital operating rooms into padding for emergency sleeping bags for homeless people. Many thanks to Roberta Jones of St. Margaret Hospital UPMC in Aspinwall and her colleague Carol Blehi .... both RN's in the OR ... and their Environmental Services Director John Merkt for helping to structure this project. For now, until we have final approval, please see the program started by Flo Wheatley, retired operating room nurse, and her husband Jim on their farm in Hop Bottom, PA. http://thesleepingbagproject.org/
COWMUG - The County of Westmoreland Mac User Group, led by Peter Carras, meets again on this Thursday, March 4, 7-9PM at the Monroeville Public Library.

Evernote - Remember Everything - This little app is free and accomplishes the need to dictate notes, write notes, collect snapshots ... and have them sync to another Mac or PC. We showed how it works with an iPhone and a MacBook Pro with over-the-air sync. Is FREE and has a pro version if you wish to step up to a more robust online-offline system. https://www.evernote.com/
P2V - IPEVO Point 2 View USB Camera - Is the coolest little cam we have seen in a while ... it has autofocus and macro-zoom features that just fantastic. You remember all the tripod jury rig attempts to get the iPhone/iPod on the projection screen ? They are a thing of the past ! This great little tool for $69

Virgin and HTML5 - To reinforce Charles Firth's findings on the push to move away from Flash ... we looked at the Virgin site: http://www.virginamerica.com/va/home.do
iPad - Excitement for the iPad is growing among the user group community ... the rumors are there will be a price drop before the launch. And an official launch date has not be set by Apple as of yet. Please visit the iPad site and do take time to watch the 1.5 hour Keynote by Steve Jobs. http://www.apple.com/ipad/
Image Capture - We spent the most time demonstrating the little known, yet uber-cool app called Image Capture. Over USB connections we had a Canon Digital Elph camera, iPhone, and Canon scanner all working seamlessly .... we used the "shared" devices tool to enable users on the same wireless network in the store to see and share each others digital files .... like Bob Donaldson's Nikon camera ! We played with this for nearly an hour .....
Then we had to leave :-)
We finished the night by saying good bye to 20636 Route 19 North Perry Highway .... and enjoyed a nightcap at Primanti Brothers watching the Sabres vs. Pens !
