Dear Mac friends:
Many thanks to Charlie Hutchens, Rich Fitzgibbon, Tucker Trainor and Dave Sevick for joining me at the Goodwill Computer Recycling Center yesterday
Yesterday, we learned "perspective." Marty Swartz successfully completed a bad-capacitor replacement on an eMac logic board in his home workshop, getting a seemingly lost resource into the ComputerWorks store to earn Goodwill money.
Marty commented just how easy it was.
In the other camp is the rest of the world's human population, who, like me, maintain that nothing is easy once you open an eMac. I believe it was Rich Fitzgibbon, who had to replace an eMac hard drive yesterday, who summed the issue nicely with "Easy my ass."
And that is "perspective."
Marty contributed the aforementioned eMac and a 12-inch iBook to our totals this week. On Friday, we refurbished another nine other Macs to bring our all-time total to 2,331. One Mac was re-imaged from a ComputerWorks store return, and six Mac were de-manufactured.
Six Macs came into the CRC donation bin this week, but only two had keyboards and mice. You know the song; we still need USB keyboards and mice.
Our next scheduled workday is Friday, February 26. We've discovered a swell Lenten fish fry at the Serbian Club just around the corner for lunch. And if one utters the magic words, "Mim Bizic sent us," you might get a couple extra french fries....
We hope to see you there!
