Perhaps the strongest part of OSX 10.6 is Grand Central Dispatch - a
revolutionary new way to handle code requests on multi-core machines.
You can read up on GCD at:

Well... Apple has officially released the source code for GCD to the
open-source community to play with. So expect to see GCD showing up on
other OSes in the future. (In particular, Linux/BSD builds).

Go Apple! Since so much of OSX is leveraging Open Source Software,
and Apple's other contributions to OSS are big hits, it's nice to see
the relationship is still going strong. And this way if some geek in
Finland figures out how to make GCD even better, Apple can incorporate
those improvements into OSX.
And besides, "the enemy of my enemy" right? (Although I expect a LOT
of downloads of the GCD source code will end up in Redmond - good luck
getting it to work in the code-mess that is Windows)
