[NPMUG] So. I have this crazy question . . .

Actually, two of them. Here goes.
I recently upgraded to Leopard (yes, I am a slow adapter so all of you
bold types can find the glitches, advise Apple and then when I go,
most of the stuff that would make me crazy is fixed . . . ). But, two
things that I have not figured out yet:
First, after I upgraded to 10.5.8 I also upgraded to iLife '08 (a
really, slow adapter so I purchased the package). The albums that my
wife had been putting together in the earlier version have simply
disappeared. The photos are here, thank goodness, but the
organizations of them into these albums seems gone. I have the "as
uploaded from the camera" original "albums" but not the created ones.
Any thoughts on whether this organization can be found here?
Second, there is an icon in the dock labeled as "Downloads". Right
now it seems to have in it a Sophos antivirus I downloaded (yes, Dave
Sevick, I took your warnings to heart and purchased even though I am a
single user, not a company). But, whenever I download a file -- e.g.,
a Word doc, a .pdf, whatever) rather than go to this place, it seems
to go to something else named "Downloads" that pops up as/after I
download the file. This happened with 10./5, but I never understood
where to find this list once I closed it -- it contains nearly
everything I've ever "downloaded" - from the Internet, from email,
etc. So, really two sub-questions: first, why doesn't this stuff
find its way into the 10.5.8 dock icon named "downloads"? and second,
where is the place that pop up of file downloads such that I can find
it after I close it ... ?
Appreciate your help as always.
Ralph
P.s. When it seems safe to enter the water on SL, please send around
a notice and I will jump in.
