I've attached a pdf question and answer sheet that I received from
Parallels re. the upgrade to Snow Leopard. Hopefully it will be helpful.

Subject: [NPMUG] Snow Leopard and Parallels for Windows
Hello, all -
I suspect more than a few of you use Parallels for Windows. I've
just gone through a time-eating hassle upgrading one of the machines in our
household, and I want to save you from going down the same blind alleys.
If you ARE a Parallels user, make sure that you upgrade to
version 4.0 before you install Snow Leopard. I tried just the
opposite, and it didn't work. Parallels v3 will not work in Snow
Leopard, and you can't run the v3 to v4 updater _after_ you perform the SL
upgrade. Happily, I had a bootable backup on an external Firewire
drive, (I have a Neptune from OtherWorld Computing,) so I was able to
restore the MacBook Pro to its initial state and start over. Yay backups!
Best,
Marty Swartz
