Dear Mac friends:

Many thanks to Charlie Hutchens, Rich Fitzgibbon, John Hamill, Tucker
Trainor, and Dave Sevick for joining me at the Goodwill Computer
Recycling Center today.

We were joined this morning by the St. Alphonsus School Tech Team, who
learned how to de-manufacture iMacs into components for responsible
recycling. After a brief how-to lesson, they grabbed their
screwdrivers and got to tear their own dead iMacs down to pieces.

We also helped Drew Harvey and the folks from The Nyadire Connection
pack 50 of our refurbished iMacs for shipment to the Methodist mission
in Nyadire, Zimbabwe. They were all packed into boxes along with new
clothing for padding, wrapped on pallets and picked up by Brothers
Brother for delivery to a shipping container where they will join
other goods destined for Zimbabwe.

We hope to have photos posted on PghMac.com in the near future.

We celebrated with a pizza party, and yunz missed it...

This afternoon, we also found the time to refurbish five G4 Power
Macintosh Towers. Our de-manufacturing for the day totaled 22. As one
of the de-manufactured Macs had previously been refurbished, we only
added four to our all-time total, which now stands at 2,240.

We're still seeking USB keyboards and mice. Please mention this to
anyone you can. This will be a continuing limitation for us in the
coming months.

The construction on Carson St. is nearing an end. The street in front
of Goodwill is scheduled to be paved tomorrow, October 31. The
sidewalks remain to be rebuilt.

We will have another workday next Friday, November 6. We will not be
working on Friday, November 27, the day after Thanksgiving.

Hope to see you there!
