Dear Mac friends:

Many thanks to Charlie Hutchens, Rich Fitzgibbon, Tucker Trainor, and
Dave Sevick for joining me at the Goodwill Computer Recycling Center
today.

Despite the one-week layoff to dodge the G-20 headache, we managed to
shake off the rust and have another productive day. We refurbished 27
Macs and only had to de-manufacture five. We re-imaged another four
from the ComputerWorks store. Adding the swell G5 iMac Marty Swartz
raised to life from Capacitor Death, our all-time total is now 2,189.

We also begun preparing for a shipment of 50 iMacs being purchased
from Goodwill by The Nyadire Connection, a Methodist mission in
Nyadire, Zimbabwe. We've got the iMacs set aside, and are collecting
mice, keyboards and power cords for packing. We've collected the
appropriate Apple updates for our disk image and burned them on CDs
for the new owners to update the iMacs in Zimbabwe.

With this shipment, we will have a critical shortage of Apple mice,
and to a lesser extent, keyboards. We do not have enough of either to
supply the iMacs we have already refurbished. Please check those
closets and drawers....

A construction note: It's still there, only it's even worse. You know
what to do :-)

We will have our next workday on Friday, October 9. Hope to see you
there!
