I can answer 2 of your questions

I'd recomend upgrading to 10.5 there are alot of features that are  
extremely useful and one of those being quicklook and better file  
manager (finder)

To manage email better on 2 different machines I would use the IMAP  
protocol rather than pop3. IMAP allows you to keep the mail on the  
server, so if you read or delete mail from one machine it will show on  
the other keeps everything in sync. First you will have to find out if  
your email provider supports IMAP.
