This thread relates to a problem I have with my G5 1.8 dual. The
problem seems to effect 2.0 dual but I cannot start my computer. It
does not chime and repeatedly blinks 3 times. This is identified on a
troubleshooting page as bad ram. However this is the ram that has
been in use for 5 years. Reading another discussion the opinion there
says that the heating and cooling of the motherboard causes a solder
joint to fail where the DIMM slots connect to the board.

Is there anyone out there who has reasonably priced ideas about
repair? My thinking is using a heating process to re-flow the
solder. I recall hearing about this but is it at all practical or
should I sell it for parts and move on?
