[NPMUG] Epson RX580 Printer/Scanner/Copier--Can't Scan

I have this RX580 on my Airport network where my Mac Mini is connected
directly to the network and I use my MacBook Pro via wifi.  The print
function works fine for both computers, but I have been unable to use the
scanner.

I tried setting up the scanner using the network IP address but it did not
work.  When I try opening the Epson Scan application, I get an error message
saying that it cannot be started and that there may be a problem with the
network settings.

Can anyone provide guidance on how to fix the problem?
