[NPMUG] Prepare for Friday Aug 28 - Snow Leopard 10.6 release ....

Some tips:

1.  10.6 Snow Leopard only runs on Intel based Apple computers .... to  
check this go to the Apple Menu / About this Mac ...

...  if it is a G3, G4 or G5 ... this NOT an Intel processor

2.  You should have 1GB of RAM or more. You'll see this also in the    
About this Mac  window ...

3.  Back up all your data with SuperDuper!  , Time Machine or whatever  
backup tools you like.

4.  Backup files that are on your computer.

5.  The files that are on your computer, as discussed in points 3 and  
4 should be copied to another place other than the computer that you  
are sitting in front of right now.

6.  After successfully completing steps 3, 4 and 5  .... THEN ...  
consider installing 10.6 on your Intel Mac ....


Report back to us here on what works and what does not after the  
install.

If you do not need to install 10.6  and/or you have a business that  
depends on you not being down at all ... please do not install it  
until we report back to everyone our findings over the next few weeks.

Behind the scenes we have folks that are in the Apple Seeds program  
for testing Snow Leopard and they are very happy ....


The Apple User Group meeting in Cranberry Twp at MacOutfitters will be  
devoted to discussing and demonstrating 10.6
