[NPMUG] old firewire vs new on Mac Book Pros

Hi all,

I have a hardware question about firewire bus differences on old 15" MacBook
Pros (A1260) vs the newest MacBook Pro 15".  Does anyone know the tech spec
differences?  We have a software/harware application (3D imaging) that will
work on the older firewire bus but not on the new one.  What changed?  Also
does anyone know if they  changed the firewire bus on the 17" MacBook Pros
as well?  Thanx!
