[NPMUG] Trouble sending mail from Mail app

Suddenly, for no apparent reason, I am unable to send emails using the Mail application.  There was no power outage or any other type of problem with my Mac.   This has been going on for about 18 hours.

I am able to receive mail, but can't send mail.  The outgoing mail server is smtp.comcast.net.   The other server listed is smtp.mac.com, which I use as my incoming server, but it doesn't work either for outgoing mail (I've never use smtp.mac.com for outgoing mail). 

My husband uses these same servers and is having no trouble sending or receiving messages; however, he does not have a me.com account.  So it makes me wonder if this is a MobileMe problem?   

When I go to the web-based www.me.com site I am able to read and send emails from my fabdana at mac.com account, but now and then a message appears telling me that I'm not connected to the server.  (I'm sending this letter from the web-based app.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
