DISCLAIMER: I work for Microsoft now (who'd a thunk it?) on Windows 7.
Anyway, I thought the ad was funny in a way Steve Jobs would never
and could never be funny.

"Microsoft plans to hire 155 "gurus" by the end of the year to work
in Circuit City, Best Buy
and other retailers to help customers pick out PCs, said Eric
Hollreiser of Microsoft -
presumably the way Seinfeld helped Gates pick out shoes."
So my impression of the response is like Charles's, "Wow," but for a
different reason.
This program sounds extremely similar to the Apple Power Rep program
of 2000 where Apple
hired their own in-store reps to promote Apple products. I was one of
those reps.
It'll be interesting, from my perspective, how well MS can carry it off.
