[NPMUG] "Sticky Keys"?

I came home tonight to a seriously misbehaving iMac -- the screen  
image shrinking and growing, flipping back and forth, multiple  
screens, single screens, turning light blue.  Headache inducing like  
a bad '50's era sci-fi movie (just absent the freaky music).  My kids  
said it was "sticky keys" and popped off the coverings for some of  
the function keys,  I have 11, 12  and 13 off now.  I finally seem  
able to operate, but am not sure if this is a permanent condition.   
One of the kids seemed to fess up to having spilled "a few drops of  
water" on the key board.  I could tell there was some moisture . . .

So, besides being outsmarted by a 13 and an 11 year old, I worry  
about possible permanent damage.  To say nothing about how they know  
about the phenomenon.  Any thoughts out there on the condition and  
what I need to do?
