At the meeting last week a cool disk inventory tool was presented. I
couldn't think of the name of another one I had worked with at the
time but have since made it back to my laptop and was able to find it.
It is called Disk Inventory X http://www.derlien.com
I had first used a similar program on Linux called KDirStat and then
on Windows call WinDirStat and had been looking for one for OS X. The
major difference between the one that was presented and this one is
that Disk Inventory X has a graphical display of the drive contents.
It will show each file as a box with the relative size of the box
equating to how much drive space it is taking up. It also color codes
the file types so you can see how much of your drive is filled with
mp3s or imovie files. It is also free so that is always nice. I am
using it on 10.4.11 PPC but they have a link for a universal version
on the site that people have said works on Intel based Macs.
Hope it helps someone else reclaim a bit of space. (I found a 15 gb
imovie project that I had misplaced)
