Apple has posted a tech article with a fix for the Software update
freeze bug that many users experienced with the 10.5.6 update.
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2383
This latest update supports my theory of "let others in the world be
the guinea pigs". Apple can only do so much testing of updates before
it releases them into the "wild." There is always a good chance that
any update especially an major OS update will break something or cause
unexpected problems. I think it is well recommended to wait a few
days (maybe a week) before running the update on your on computers.
That gives time for these problems to be discovered and hopefully fixed.
This becomes especially true when you have computers that you rely on
for your livelihood. If the computer is running well enough that you
are able to productively use it, then there is no value in being the
first in line to install software that may potentially bring your
computer to a standstill. There is a reason it's called the
"bleeding" edge and a little patience may save you hours of headaches.
