[NPMUG] MobileMe does update within 60 seconds under 10.5.6 !!!! .... finally .....

The tech note for 10.5.6 states :

• MobileMe
- Contacts, calendars, and bookmarks on a Mac automatically sync  
within a minute of the change being made on the computer, another  
device, or the web at me.com.

This has been a real pain for me as I rely heavily on iCal and iPhone  
updates syncing in a timely manner for my workflow.

Now, with 10.5.6 installed,  when I have the iPhone settings for   
"Fetch New Data"  set for     "Push"    for  my me.com  calendars ....  
it actually does move newly entered data on my "MacBookPro" using  
Apple iCal ....... to the  "cloud"  at Apple ......  and  to my   
"iPhone"  rather quickly and within  the promised 60 seconds above.    
Actual results are less than 10 seconds.

One little catch ....

I have my MobileMe Sync preferences set to  "Automatic"  .... which  
you would think to mean  "Automatic" .....   yet when I make edits   
the Sync circular arrows do not "spin" right away ... see here:



I have to click the "Sync Now"  menu choice to start the circular  
arrows spinning.   When that circular animation stops .... THEN .....  
I start my stopwatch .... and it consistently syncs   .....   from  my  
Mac ---> Cloud ---> iPhone within  10 seconds tonight.

Just to update you .... since the release of MobileMe .... this  
process was timed at 15 - 30 minutes on average.  Not acceptable at  
all for serious calendar users.

Not sure what Apple did on the back end here in 10.5.6  .... but it is  
much much better tonight.

Now, if "automatic" only meant "automatic"  ......    :-)


Dear Apple,

You are getting closer with 10.5.6   ..... but MobileMe is still  
"beta" for any serous business user ....
